Running a 50 cc 2 stroke engine the Benelli shows a new lease of character for a sports scooter of its kind. You can see some of the parts shared from the Benelli Motorcycles bin as you walk around the scooter with one of the stand out features having to be the LED Blinkers and tail light configuration. Exposed handlebars really feature and give the scooter a natural upright riding position that is fully adjustable to suit any rider, the seat is wide and comfortable with a rear seat inscribed with the 49X logo that complements the alloy flip out passenger foot rests. Storage is taken care of under the seat and opened via the ignition key and a full face helmet will fit easily. The fuel sits low under your feat for better balance and a fully adjustable rear shock sits on the rear. You also have a choice of 10 and 12 inch tyres. So if you like your look fat and chunky with an off road appeal take the 10 inch version whilst the 12 inch wheel and tyre package gives you a little extra height and road going edge. The stand out feature on the Benelli would have to be the ready made and fitted power pipe on the side which certainly does its bit to stand out from the crowd and set itself apart from any number of other larger and heavier Euro Emissions derived pipes. The 2 stroke engine packs plenty of punch and the oil premix is in a very handy position under the seat and again towards the low mid section of the scooter where balance is enhanced. The other key feature of this is that the oil resiviour is see through and you have the ability to touch your toes and clearly see how much oil you have left without taking the screwdriver out. The Benelli 49X also stops exceptionally well due to its low weight and powerful wavy disc rotor on the front end. Benelli have thought this scooter out very well indeed. It retains a zippy 2 stroke engine, has plenty of ability and balance through its smart layout and you can clearly see that this was a scooter designed on a blank sheet of paper. At £1499 OTR this scooter has plenty of appeal for the money. Its not as cheap as some but its different and its sum of parts certainly add value.
